Our first exhibition with the Italian photographer Vincenzo Pagliuca (*1980) shows two of his long-term projects. The series entitled "mónos" was created in southern Apenin, near his former home and shows solitary buildings, simple houses, often only rudimentarily designed, which receive their special attraction through the simplicity of their appearance in a remote, lonely landscape. In 2022 we published "mónos" as a book (still available).
The "Bunker" pictures were created between 2018 and 2021 and show the bunkers built as part of the „Vallo Alpino“ in the mountains of South Tyrol before the Second World War. These bunkers, were privatized in 1993 and are now in civilian use . They never had to withstand a military attack, and yet they stand for the fragility of our supposedly peaceful, Central European world and illustrate how close refuge and escape are still or again these days.
